Nothing is Original

by Quinton Figueroa on August 24th, 2008

I have heard some people say that nothing is original in this world. All new things are simply a spin off of something else. I think this is a pretty fair and accurate judgment which holds some strange repercussions. Everything is pretty much the result of something that happened before it. People's artistic expressions are the result of their influences and so on.

[North India]For instance,[/North India] if you take something like an "original" painting you will find that the idea for it came from perhaps another painting or song or artistic expression from another individual. And this expression came from yet another thing. And on and on. It's all just one big loop.

Something I found interesting is that if you follow this notion it appears that things like mythology and fiction have grounds on which they stand. Think about it.

Nobody really ever does anything new or original. They simply "remember" or grab something from an infinite source.
