I see people all the time talking about starting a band or trying to take their band to the next level. While I have not started a band myself I have studied the situation for a while and have some pointers that I think would be helpful for anybody serious about becoming a sensation like Metallica. It seems like there are many things people just don't think about or understand that are key to doing what Metallica did. Here are some things I've found and what I would do if I was to start a band:

Write good music

I can't get over how insanely good some songs are. I'm talking about the kind of songs that are filled with structure, emotion, genius and life. They are the kind of songs that tell a powerful story as you listen to each note mark its presence. The kind of songs that develop color with each new instrument making its way onto canvas. The kind of songs where everything works together in perfect harmony creating a masterpiece that changes you time and time again. I think few artists ever reach such a level of musical perfection and I would like to share with you some that I think have.

I love the fact that the music industry is falling down because of the Internet. This isn't anything new, it's been going on since Napster, but it is getting harder and harder to stop the exchange of free music and videos. The traditional train of thinking may see this as a terrible thing and something that needs to be stopped, but why? Information should be made more accessible and easier to get. If people are super into this shouldn't there be something done to figure out how to make it work rather than trying to stop it?

Good Riddance!

I am always coming across situations where there are creative and technical abilities involved. I guess a lot of things in life are contrasted by these two things. Based off my observations it seems as though creativity is always much more important than technical ability. You can't really teach creativity, but you can teach skills.

I have compiled a list of 100 songs that I find truly inspirational. There may be a few that are left out and if that is the case I will be sure to add them with time.

On some of the songs you will notice I have included a commentary as to what I like.

1. A-Ha - Take on Me - This song is super catchy and has a great melody to it. The chorus is very nice as well, I really like the octave progression.
2. Ace of Base - Beautiful Life - This song is just beautiful.
